3D printing food products for Personalised Sport Nutrition

SOLUTION
3DPERFIT will provide athletes and amateurs with nutritional products personalised to their individual needs and preferences. In this way, we support them reaching their goals, which will lead to the overall goal of improving health. Personalised nutrition is gaining popularity. End-users seek uniqueness and demand to be involved in the production process, and dieticians want to abandon the traditional one-size-fits-all strategy. 3D food printing is the perfect solution for this.
3DPERFIT will bring to the market personalised food products for gym users. The food products will be produced onsite using novel 3D food printing with a personalised user interface. Recipes adapted to the nutritional requirements of the gym users and compatible with 3D printing technology will be developed. Ingredient cartridges for the printer will be sold both together with the printer and separately. Additionally, a mobile app will be created and the whole concept will be tested in a gym.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
Two types of developments will be performed during the project:
(1) The 3D food printer will be adapted to the sports nutrition area.
(2) Personalised sports nutrition will be a new product requiring a breakthrough development since the nutritional ingredients e.g. protein powders cannot be printed today.
The integrated concept will allow athletes to design their own sports nutritional products onsite in the gym or sports club. The products available will also increase their range and change according to the demands of the users and their needs. 3D food printer will be able to determine in real time which products are being used by the end users, which means it will be possible to adjust productions according to the existing demand.
